USS Hornet

On Friday my company had its yearly all day retreat. Each year we go somewhere around the bay, and this year the meeting was on the USS Hornet air craft carrier docked near Oakland. We got to explore the ship and walk around on the runway, which gave us an amazing view of the bay.




In order to get up to the runway, we took a ride on a 200 person elevator- quite the experience. It was used to transport jets to and from the runway. The elevator was one huge flat piece of concrete and metal without any railings. Here you can see how big it was from the hole in the ceiling- the whole thing drops down below deck
