We've been listening to Mahalia Jackson quite a bit lately. John grew up listening to her music, and introduced me to her after we found an old album of hers from 1961. We've been listening to it pretty much non-stop since.

the de Young

We went to the de Young Museum yesterday, hopefully the first of many visits this year. We're trying to make it up to the city more often to take advantage of the museums and galleries.

Below is a detail shot of one of the pieces I liked the most- "Anti-Mass" by Cornelia Parker. It's made up of suspended remains from a black Southern Baptist church that was destroyed by arson.
